Dreamy Duskywing Butterfly (Erynnis icelus)
Copyright: Diane P. Brooks
These deep brown colored skippers are fun to watch as they bounce through wooded areas. They will briefly stop to nectar at various flowers but the males are known for puddling and perching close to the ground to wait for females. This species can easily be confused with the Sleepy Duskywing in your garden but don’t get discouraged; they both are enjoyable on a warm sunny day!
