Pawpaw Tree (Asimina triloba)
The Pawpaw Tree, also known as Indian banana, is a natural understory tree. It naturally grows in the canopy of the forest. However, we grow our Pawpaw trees in full sun with much success. Our trees are much fuller compared to the ones that naturally grow in the woods as understory trees.
This small tropical-like tree is a unique and wonderful addition to landscapes. Not only does it grow delicious fruits, but it is the one and only host plant for the gorgeous Zebra Swallowtail. Pawpaws can grow up to 30 feet but can easily be pruned each year to maintain a much smaller size. For the most part, they are pest resistant and a wonderful addition to your yard.
