Blazing Stars (Liatris spp.)

(aka Gayfeather) These unique showy plants are fantastic to have in a mixed perennial garden. They have 2 to 3-inch purple, fluffy-looking plumes that open from top to bottom during the summer. The grass-like leaves compliment and offer contrast to your other garden plants. They will thrive in full sun to partial shade and will continue to grow over the years as their bulb increases in size. Butterflies love these flowers!
