This deciduous tree provides a great deal of shade due to its ability to grow up to 100 feet tall and its wide canopy. Although the grey bark and average size elliptical leaves are not well distinguished, you can identify them by the small purple flowers which bloom in February and March. It also bears a small fruit in the spring.
