My grandmother recently passed away and before she went my cousin asked her, “do you think you’ll visit or send a sign you’re watching?” My grandmother thought about it and replied that she would want to come back as a butterfly, a green butterfly.
Butterfly Angle Watching Us
Just a couple of days after she died and mere minutes after my cousin told that story to a family friend, that friend went outside and spotted this butterfly. She’s got an awful camera on her phone so the picture quality isn’t great, but what looks white-ish was apparently a pale green.

This is in Maryland so I looked up butterflies native to the region and I suspect that this is a zebra swallowtail or an eastern tiger swallowtail but we’d love to know for sure.
By the time the end came she was ready and the best death, I can think of.
Butterfly Miracle Symbol
I’m not religious so I don’t think she is watching over me except in the sense that I have her memory with me and it reminds me to be a good person. But other members of my family are religious, and this butterfly is basically a downright miracle for them. It’ll mean a lot to be able to identify it and be able to use it as a symbol of how much she meant to us all.
I don’t know what we’re going to do with the information yet. They love Pawpaws but Pawpaws smell like roadkill to me. They attract pollinators with their awful reek the same way a flower does with a pleasant one, so it’s a hard sell to plant one in my yard.
