Hollyhock (Alcea rosea)
Copyright: Diane P. Brooks
These soaring towers of eye-catching color are perfect in any garden. Painted Lady butterflies will love to munch on the light-colored green foliage. When planting, be sure to add plenty of compost and water regularly. Hollyhocks are annuals or biennials but will usually reseed themselves so that they will appear in your garden year after year. These beauties are best placed along a fence or wall and may need to be staked. They are an excellent addition to any garden.
